The Taste of a Slightly Sweeter Regret by Trisha De GraciaLaying here
I drape one hand
across
my womb.
A stirring inside
a hope
a birth and a death that occurs
without any of my say at all
- you'd arrive to see eyes
staring down
disbelieving
regretting existense.
It is like my heart drove you away
by not calling your name
and you fled first love
to face
unrequitted
unanswered
unwanted.
(In truth
I'd lift you up
and cherish your life
and dry both your eyes
before mine)
I hope
that when
in earnest I call,
open armed and unhindered
with love over-flowing,
your soul won't deny me
as just I deserve. 04/12/2004 Author's Note: same poem, new title.

Posted by J. P. Davies on 04/12/04 at 08:06 PM Wow Trish, this is great. So much feeling. It bears the same message as my poem on the same subject but has more personal fear and hope juxtaposition. I like this alot. |
