rise up by Kalikala Smithoh for the weary and weak,
rise up and be saved.
for the damned and depressed,
rise up and be saved.
for the homely and meek,
rise up and be saved.
for the lonely and lame,
rise up and be saved.
to whom shall we give this happy occasion?
to whom shall we have sit high on the throne?
a plastic Jesus,
a paper-mache Budda!
three cheers for cell-phones,
for high-speed internet,
for 10 day diets!
these are our saviors.
who needs anything else?
we can save ourselves,
with hand-helds,
and brass buttons on coats,
and x-rays,
and penicillin.
so rise up,
and be saved by yourself.
it doesn't promise you happiness,
but at least you're distracted from the truth.

Posted by Matt Forget on 04/12/04 at 05:55 PM A very interesting, intriguing piece. It's like the joy of the things that are so real but never thought of to be the greatest treasures of our lives....like a heads-up penny on the ground or something compared to life insurance. Nice job...I can't wait to read the final piece. |
