to love[the pain]

by Marlon DeLeon

your touch [i feel]so soft
as [your] lips kiss mine
and your [hands] caress my face
noone [around] to see us
[my] heart in you possesion
as i run my fingers down your [neck]

i can feel [your] heart beating
as you close your [eyes] i make a wish
as my eyes become [filled] with tears
i am thankful to be [with] you
and for once i feel no [hate] toward the world
because [for me] you are my salvation

i only hope [you'll] embrace this letter
for this i [write] is what i feel
[your] touch is all i yearn
these tears are my [confession]
[with] my heart as my pen
[my blood] the ink in these empty diaries

Ooh very intense indeed! First thing I saw was, “I feel your hands around my neck…your eyes filled with hate for me…you’ll write your confession with my blood” – ah yes very clever and a wonderful opposition to the seeming ‘love’ content of the poem that speaks of “soft as [your] lips…heart beating…thankful to be [with] you”. I really like the way you reveal the conflict in the relationship. Hidden in words, as most likely, the real conflict is…and though you write words of tenderness in this “love…letter,” there on your own tongue is the fear and trepidation spelled out in no uncertain terms….great piece!
