Waiting for something to break
and not knowing just what I am expecting to break
or how I am expecting it to break
should it crease nicely into lines
then fall apart splendidly into perfect geometric forms?
or should it shatter
into a billion irregular pieces
to be lost so soon beneath the next layer of something
or should it just disintegrate into dust
and be caught up by the wind
that I may forever breathe it in
or maybe it should break down further
on a molecular level,
break down into protons and neutrons and electrons
all those wonderful
unseen and fictional things
that scientists tell us the world is made of
and what is holding it all together right now
why hasn't it broken yet?
is there some higher force
is G_d just some form of cosmic crazy glue?
