this springtime by Emily Davidsonit's springtime and with all these flowers in bloom i will be expecting you
to tell me that i'm pretty as a tulip and cheerful as a daisy
but sometimes
i forget
how this
spring will
have to
be spent
without you
and my eyes are following you like a snail's slimey trail and i'm expecting you
to tell me about all the love that you have for me in your sappy loverboy heart
but that
heart does
not and
will not
feel love
this springtime
and i'm expecting you to lean over any minute and lay those
pink rose petal lips of yours onto my cheek that's cold like it's still winter
but sometimes
i forget
how this
spring will
have to
be spent
without you 04/01/2004 Posted on 04/02/2004 Copyright © 2026 Emily Davidson
