this springtime

by Emily Davidson

it's springtime and with all these flowers in bloom i will be expecting you
to tell me that i'm pretty as a tulip and cheerful as a daisy

but sometimes
i forget
how this
spring will
have to
be spent
without you

and my eyes are following you like a snail's slimey trail and i'm expecting you
to tell me about all the love that you have for me in your sappy loverboy heart

but that
heart does
not and
will not
feel love
this springtime

and i'm expecting you to lean over any minute and lay those
pink rose petal lips of yours onto my cheek that's cold like it's still winter

but sometimes
i forget
how this
spring will
have to
be spent
without you

really sweet and vital... and lyrical. Use of repetition here gives a wistfulness.

Beautiful. Sad, but beautiful! loved the images of the flowers and springtime. Good read- heartfelt write
