i am words

by Kate Swearingen

i am words.
as if i could erase a letter
& begin to disappear
treading carefully
l i g h t l y
across everything
bleeding through lines
running through boundaries
like a child with a big
red crayon
leaving my mark:
paper to
carpet to
walls to
hidden in closet corner to
etched in gold to
scratched in tree.

we are inseparable
the words & i
as if without them -
without blue & star
beam fish lamp &
slowly yesterday up no
round & hand
still friend
& go &
silk -
i am empty.

they fill me up
let
ter
by
let
ter pouring slowly
like a jar of
overflowing honey that
(hurryputthelidon)
threatens to
e s c a p e
aletters poxuringc x
w froem my g eyes & mjouth
tanpgledy ino my hamir
   q t

until
i
am
no
more.

Welcome to Pathetic! Lovely poem :-)

This was one of the most beautiful poems! And of course, being a member of the Word family, the affinity goes without saying. Still, the perspective was so fresh, I thank you for bringing it. It was like having coffee with a distant cousin who talked about DNA I had been previously unaware of and now suddently realizing where it comes from. Being one with words, yes.

I enjoyed this poem so much. It's a fresh look at language and the image creation for communication. Congratulations on being POTD!

Consumed by your own words! The visual and semantic effects give this a life of its own. An infectious first post with a well-received delivery.

Great insight into the "word". Original and captivating!
