this is the way i bleed.

by Olivia Weinkein

he tells me everything is going to be alright
and i believe him because it's better than being
alone, it's better than making promises to myself
i don't intend to keep. instead
i make promises to another
lying through my teeth lying
on my back half-hoping he doesn't discover me,
half-knowing
he already has.

"i believe him because it's better than being alone...better than...promises...i don't intend to keep. instead i make promises to another lying through my teeth" - how very very sad this is. Lying to another to convince yourself you are not alone can be seen as lying to yourself as well...this is what evokes the last lines, "half-hoping he doesn't discover me, half-knowing he already has" - yes, the truth DOES show through eventually. Nice work! I enjoyed this :-)

i love the constant rock: the back-and-forth of the entire piece. it's simple but holds such looming emotion. hm. yes.
