A Work of Art

by Matt Forget

I ask you to follow

Sail my wrinkled sea of sorrow

Drowning in temptation to gloat at nothing

Though you ignore my requests

Empty your virtual mailbox of answers

That I said were the solutions

Insisting you show me

All but a dirty nightmare gone mad

Puzzled by the expectations

Which trap incandescent evil

Destroys the lust of captivating cruelty

Saving me from my own demise

Glass seas turn around

Promising ways and creating discoveries

I’m the new person you brought to me

Given me love thereafter and evermore

Pinched me before my dreams came true

And now that pinch lasts forever

Pulling me far from pastels of grey

Erasing the stray marks from my canvas

As my art form sails the open sea.
