Graphic Thoughts by Rhyana Fisher
(revised version, 6/13/2011)
No, you may not see my face.
Staring rudely has no place.
There's reason I've hid out of sight
and strangers haven't earned the right.
No. I really am quite sure,
I'll have no gawking folks astir.
Pretty is as pretty does,
for me there'll be no judging fuss.
Yes, I'm happy in the dark.
Know me by the words I mark
upon the windows to my room.
They'll tell you more than looks assume.
My face is mine and mine alone.
I'd just as soon remain unknown
to those who'd choose by age and eye.
First impressions I defy.
No, you will not see my face
unless with friendship you would grace
the stained glass halls where strangers must
enter the labyrinth of Trust.
03/21/2004 Author's Note: Because I believe a shadowed picture tells at least as much about a person as a full face shot. Because I will not post a clear face picture at path.org and thus that space remains blank. And because I do not forcefully assert my opinions at this site but still have them.
