Glancing Back

by Christel Crews

I had a problem the other day
but you didn't lend your ear
I wanted to cry as I fell asleep
but your shoulder wasn't near
I searched for comfort in other things
But my heart is still yours I fear

I still drive past your place some nights
and wonder if you're there
I hope you're moving on, getting past
I confess that I still care
Don't mistake me, I'm slowly letting go
but I still think of you in my every prayer

I can still hear your gentle voice
whispering to me in the dark of night
You held me to protect me
when a scary thing was in sight
I'm lapsing in my strength, right now
I miss you

but I know

that I will be

alright
