the Reaper has more Clients now

by Michele Schottelkorb

did you ever hear (not listen)

a One scream in silent pain?

{the pendulum was swinging

   out of tune

   out of sync

   out of time

  when the One stepped softly off the edge}

society chisels at the shell

of human existence

breeding a generation of

sad geniuses and plastic people

to hide away for moments

would be bliss, don’t you think?

{the clock ticked slowly

   each chime

   each break

   each slice

  brought the One closer to reality}

if “man” knows so much~

why do children bleed

and money is a weapon?

the Reaper has more clients now

thanks to our “perfection”

Pointed and eloquent. I appreciated this one as it made me THINK!

Does the abundance of life make it less precious? Stunning imagery in this little verse. Thanks for sharing.
