Perhaps With a Quill by Trisha De GraciaI kiss you because
I want to plant little "I Love Yous"
all over your body.
I want to write messages tied with my heartstrings
and smear them all over the breadth of your skin-
perhaps with a quill and some ink
I would write my "I Love Yous" in purple and red
and I'd drag the tip gently
and write oh so sweetly
the words that escape me
(chased out by the swirlings of joy in my chest).
I'd write poem on poem on poem
with just the right words
put in all the right places
to fit in the spaces between all your fingers
and toes.
I would write on your nose
on your eyelids
and all down your neck
in some heavenly cursive they've yet to invent
so your veins would uptake it
and course it through every beat of your chest
and you'd hear those three words through the tears that might find you
or the fears that might blind you at best.
But instead at my last of all last last resorts
I'll just kiss you in place of those italic letters.
I searched but you'll just have to settle for this
because frankly, I'm all out of feathers. 03/16/2004 Author's Note: :D, teehee -xoxo

Posted by James Cavet on 03/17/04 at 08:39 AM This is a lovely poem about being in love. I love the idea of the "some heavenly cursive they've yet to invent so your veins would uptake it
and course it through every beat of your chest"
The images really paint an interesting picture in my head. |
