reasons why by Richard TrotterCompelled by obsession
frantic rush to the edge
of unknown light and reason
perishing under a dripping tap
and the need to know why
the cellars rise in blood
triumphant and raining
cannons onto those who cry.
Split down the middle
the faces of those in control
helpless they cannot deny,
the swell of potent violence,
when there is no advance
on the imaginary measure:
I strain and die to know
the reasons we cannot learn. 01/11/2003 Posted on 03/16/2004 Copyright © 2025 Richard Trotter
