falling asleep standing up sitting down on you

by Olivia Weinkein

do you ever get tired of walking away
he asked and right then and there i
almost cried out, almost stopped, almost
cared but i'm used to running into walls
i'm friends with all these dead-ends.
he looks at me sideways from across a
room and i think i could use a drink,
some time to think, a boy whose questions
don't end in when.

lie to me again like i know you can

he's so lonely i am only alone he's looking
for a home between my thighs i catch his sighs
and leave them behind where he forgot them
remember me when he closes his eyes i couldn't
stand (it) anymore so i sat down then open
& fold, fumble & mold me into what you would
have me be

it's too early to go home, too late to turn back
standing in the darkness where you left me
truth eats love eats lust eats all else reaching
for something further finding only his hand
come on now

lie to me again like i know you can
