I Was Never the Same Again

by Thomas K. Hunt

Once upon a time when the stars were out
They shared the moon with the open sky
A hundred million blue light gems
And one full moonlit pie

They shined silver over everything
From the bridge to across the bay
Then carried over on a summer breeze
I heard, Long Ago and Far Away

A band of angels played their tune
Just what I needed to hear
Under the stars and the light of the moon
It came across so soft and clear

No one could beat my front row seat
With my toes in the velvet cool
Underneath that northern sky
Lit up by all those jewels

It was a long long time ago
As I sat within my still
Family and friends have come and gone
Leaving voids I can not fill

But through it all he’s been there
With the old standards that are true
Always something fresh and clean
Always with something new

I’ve see him from a distance
That’s just where I’m bound to be
I thank him for my life
All the words he wrote about me

I felt my spirit rise in the light
Then it came back again
On that beautiful summer night
I made a lifelong friend

For once upon a time a long time ago
Drifting on a summer wind
Music from heaven filled my heart
I was never the same again

it has been ahile since i've visited, and it it has been awhile since i've visited, and it feels like going home... you write with a very familiar and enticing style... this flows beautifully and feels as if you are there, hovering over amongst the stars... brilliant... blessings...
