Anything You Expect... by J. P. DaviesI believe in something, but it pains me to describe it.
You never told me how to live.
{Screams flutter in smokey spirals}
I can not be anything you expect,
or any dream you built of me to please.
So I'll slave away, for the ends,
because that will make you proud.
That I care is the reason,
it hurts,
when I can't live {up},
To your social expectaions. 03/08/2004 Posted on 03/08/2004 Copyright © 2024 J. P. Davies

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 11/09/07 at 07:46 AM Fascinating poem... and your choreographed "spirals" presented as interludes in such an interesting way are especially effective! Also the poem has a very strong feeling of effort of "care" the weight of the aim and that work is felt...and yet there is still a lightness.. in the direction "{up}". |
