Butterfly: I Wish You Could See

by J. P. Davies

I wish you could see
how the light catches
your wings, and reflects
it in patterns onto my face.

Did you relearn how to fly?
When you related the ground,
to a point worth rising above,
did you only think of the air?

When my large mason jar
was unsealed, you unfolded,
and you spread your wings
to the sky. Passing wafts
of fragrance, you wended
your way out of my world.

the questions all worth asking. I have a butterfly poem too, but it's not on here yet. Amazing, and they lend to such analogies. An excellent series of poems here.
