hmmm, wait

by Ginette T Belle

hmmm, wait let me explain
i reserve my opinions for sailing on wild, alabaster waters
skimming asperous rock when the sky broods and sulks with the tide

and please let me asseverate, this after all is my arcane, subdued thoughts
you wouldn't know to look at it but it syrups me whole
and i can never really manipulate the astringent wire through my head
it pokes through to the surface
a life-line for someone to grab hold of

oh, let me elucidate everything that is suspended around me
the bell jar right within my reach
it is fists full of aphotic depths in rainforests
too far away to just sit quietly in
and sweep away spoonfuls of marmalade on toast
praying for quiet to finally reveal itself
and hit you on the head

i entreat you to listen this way
one ear will do
i don't need much
now that i've buried my utopia
beyond reach

This is such a great mix of things to stir ones senses. Beautiful!
