In Lieu of Jazz and Velvet Stetsons

by Trisha De Gracia

Days and nights of dreaming
sunset wonders from the balcony
the second story drop below my over-hanging feet
and I
can only think of warmth
the way the curve of both your arms
can feel around my naked body
skin to skin in soft embrace to watch
one star peek through your window.

Here the stars are scared away by city lights
and all I feel is nightair wrapped around me
metal bars between my fingers mock
the way you touched me then
and I
can only think of how your smooth caress will feel
in lieu of iron
jazz and velvet Stetsons.

Author's Note: The festival was fun. They say you never realize how much you miss someone till you see them again. I realized...(And yes, this is another poetic volley, like back in the old days)
