Beach Candy

by Thomas K. Hunt

Going down to the boulevard
To set my sight on some candy
I know it won’t be that hard
The sun brings it out so handy

Lemon yellow
Cherry red
These flavors get me going
Delicious thoughts run through my head
They get my juices flowing

Coconut fragrance
Glistening on bronze
The curves along the boulevard
Are numerous and long

Behind the shades that block the rays
Lay mystery and thought
Splashing in the crashing waves
Are melons that are store bought

Crystal clear, salt water blue
Sizzle in the sun
Beach baked so sweet and true
Honey dripped hot-crossed buns

Thin white lines of imagination
Run visions through my brain
I know I’m in the right location
God, I hope it doesn’t rain

Going down to the boulevard
To get my sugar fix
The spice of life is variety
Here, I can have my pick

My sweet tooth is aching
My taste buds are calling out
It’s all there for the taking
Beach candy is all about
