experienced only in peripheral vision
hope and expectations foregone
in the necessary and half-willed
ignorance of magnetism.

A pondering,
a conscious recognition
bringing about a full turn of the head
curiosity and wonder awakened
in the sudden and delightful
presence of shared time.

3.

A brief reality,
a raging furnace
quaking in every inch of newborn flesh
passion and tenderness aroused
in the glorious and wonderful
fusion of two bodies.

4.

A doubt,
a backward glance
erasing all of the new-found smiles
assurance and confidence shaken
in the awkward and sober
shift of relations.

A hope,
a growing flicker
denying all signs to the negative
defiance and determination born
in the bleak and slim
chance of success.
