The Rose

by Rula Shin

soft crimson pulse of
tender ruby bulb
tightly wound within

gentle morning tips
chilled by Summer dew
pursing cautious lips

fleshy shields of skin
petals blushing bold
folding shades of pink

lavish touch of Sun
coaxed by BeautyÂ’s hue
piercing seal on door

beaming does the One
parting lips of Rose
unravel Belle to pounding core

Absolutely beautiful... there is nothing more precious to the senses than watching a flower open.

Beautifully erotic piece.

This beauty of this beautiful ‘fleshy shields of skin’…’folding shades of pink’, ever seductive, ever captivating, the two dimensional this ‘The rose’, the center of all attraction in the garden of nature can only be depicted in two words- Exotic! Erotic!. But interestingly, the most beautiful and sensuous aspect of this piece is that the portrayal doesn’t stop at this still-snap-shot. It brings into focus the elements of beauty adding to this beauty, the elements of the beauty adding to the effect of this beauty in the form of ‘summer dew pursing cautious lips’, lavish touch of sun coaxed by beauty’s hue’. The act of beaming, the act of piercing and the climax of this enchanting alive scene is the unraveling. All praise to this beautiful poet, Rula Shin.

I refuse to believe *blushing* that this poem is about anything other than a rose!

Between form ("A Pentameter in Haiku"--I like that) and function (what a great metaphor--a refreshing dose of "clean" sexuality), this is a perfectly balanced, perfectly written poem. Makes me jealous of bees...

Outstanding metaphor on the sensuality of nature and womanhood. I too like the form - it works very well.... d:-)

seductively beautiful... ah, my favorite flower is the Rose... we are very much alike :)... this is sensual and sexy and loving and intricate... into the folds of the Rose, introspection can be found... great read... blessings...

This is beautiful. I like the way you personalized the inanimate objects. I realized I'd never read any of your poetry, so I decided to start. Good work, wonderful images.
