Anything Other by Amanda Conlogueyou read the poems
and asked me
is there anything other
than sex
that you like
about us?
somehow I missed
the mark,
cupid's arrow gone
awry, striking
a glancing blow
the stinging
pain of love
I love and get lost
in the feel of you
inside and out
but its not why I love
its not why I strive
to stay, to hold on
in the squalls of life
its the sharpness that pierces
straight to my thoughts
the soft smile, softer laugh
the tilt of your head
when you listen to me
ramble about nothing in particular
and you love me for it
hold me close, cradled
in your arms, kiss me
with reverence, before
you tickle me into giggles
and I am a child again
innocent and carefree
floating somewhere between
earth and sky, Laughter
ringing clear and true,
jumping on a trampoline.
