A matter of time
by Amy NiggelI always knew I would come to this,
some part of me
in the very center of my being
has been preparing for this forever
and yet I still fight.
I knew I would never be the one
to give my life to save another,
nor would I be the one
to sacrifice and suffer.
Not in the way I saw others do.
Yet here I am,
on the brink of giving up everything
for a friend,
one who shall hurt me beyond belief.
So I sit here
knowing full well the hand I've been dealt
and wondering how badly it will end.
I always knew I would come to this
and now
it's just a matter of time. 02/23/2004 Author's Note: I just wanted to post something so I would be at 300 poems :-P
