In The Corner I Sit by Charles J HannanIn the corner I sit
Staring at the light
Coming in from the narrow window
It is in this instance
I realize
Visualize, even
That someone is there
To sooth my wounded soul
Not questioning why I'm here
Or plotting an escape route
Something I should be thinking
But I will feel the sun's warmth again
And the way your hair smelled..so good to me
Let not this fearless centurion
Stand in the way
Of what we've uncovered...
A treasure
Magnificent in it's stature
Bold and true
Our love
Bold and true...
In the corner I sit
Staring at the darkness
That was once alive with light
But I know
Now you enjoy the light 02/23/2004 Posted on 02/23/2004 Copyright © 2025 Charles J Hannan

Posted by Anne Engelen on 02/23/04 at 07:27 AM your thoughts and memories put in these words really have great impact on me. Can't even find words to fit a comment that would do justice to the feeling.
Posted by Maureen Glaude on 02/23/04 at 09:19 PM there's a sense of generosity and peace he feels for her, even over his own loneliness, that is so precious and beautiful. True love is putting the other first, and that is evident here. Hopefully in time, both will not feel loneliness in their corners, but meet again.
Posted by Jeanne Marie Hoffman on 02/26/04 at 05:41 PM I like that you defined the window as "narrow". It seems to reflect the narrowing in of the thought process. The ignoring of selfish thoughts (escape routes etc) and the embrace of details of her
