Falling out of falling in love

by Gabrielle L Gervais

Is this gutted pitted feeling of lethargy that seeps through the holes in the back of your heart- soaking your arteries, lungs, heart-beats in heavy coatings of oiled apathy. It’s this unraveling that begins in the stomach and peels memories (taking the good ones)… tears away at fingertips like cavernous mouths without teeth… stopping only when devouring is left to those who lack everything resembling comfort - flicking the seeds of something that was once sustaining and now is pretending to be unimportant. Falling out of falling in love is: the mocking- unwanted exposure of a self that doesn’t know where to hang its coat.

a self that doesn't know where to hang its coat, is brilliant in my opinion. Powerful stuff.
