dawning joy

by Kimberly Bare

hopes rise gleefully
like helium filled balloons
against the vast empty canvas
of my mind

i am cautious
to a fault
and
feel that i must
relearn joy

suspend the disbelief
of my own good fortune
and
allow the wave of happiness
to crash into me

but, that is not my way

inch by inch
is much more pleasing

and i am standing
knee deep in the
tidepool of euphoria
as i begin to smile

Wow I really like this. I could feel myself wading slowly into that brilliant pool of euphoria...inch by inch instead of taking it all in at once...it's always good to be a bit 'cautious' when it comes to celebrating good fortune...lest we get jinxed! Hahah. Seriously though, wonderful imagery. Though you have restraint enough to spread this 'joy' over many many moments, should that 'tidepool' of euphoria sweep you away suddenly without warning all at once, remember to take it in with open arms! :-) Hope I'm making sense hee hee. Great Read!
