What happens to an anticipated weekend?

Does it go by slowly
Like a creeping cat on the prowl?
Or rapidly like the speed of light—
And then crash-land?
Does it never boil like watched pot?
Or burst and spill with flavor—
Like a jelly-filled doughnut?

Maybe it just remains
Like a replayable clip in your memory.

Or does it disappear?
