Prince Charming At Midnight

by Teri T Lahmon

I lie waiting for you
in the lengthening night
peering into the gloom
my sighs hover just above my pillow
the empty air kisses my cheeks
my heart thumps its lonely rhythm
my blood flowing its solemn course
Where is my romance novel love?
Where is my shining knight?
To save me from nightmare creatures
To share my dreams
and listen to fevered nightmare ramblings
of raping raging bulls
To wield soft smiles and caresses
and make me feel safe again?

Author's Note: ~amused~ Everytime I read where is my romance novel love? Where is my shining knight part, "Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?" goes through my head.

a rhetorical Harlequin question many might ask. This is a unique and fun pre-Valentine moment. Thanks.
