Bass Drum by David NeubauerThe bass drum really needs to stop,
it's drumbeat throbbing through my head,
setting my eyes crossed, and
my soul weary. The violins,
acid bows screeching,
the drum-beat rhymically
pulsing, pounding through my head.
The trumpet flare, and my eyes
blur, white spots dancing
on a wind that isn't there...
And that damned drum keeps going,
so loud in my ears,
and it's so difficult
to quiet a
heartbeat. 02/02/2004 Posted on 02/02/2004 Copyright © 2024 David Neubauer
