Sometimes I am

by Leandra K Brossard

Sometimes I am the pitter pat of softly falling rain
beaconing in the dark of night come hither.
Walk with me, Talk with me,
I am your ever friend
I love you,
I miss you,
pitter patter.

Sometimes I am the guttering of a single candle flame
a beacon in the darkest night it's safe here.
Sit with me, Confide in me,
I am your ever friend
I love you,
I miss you,
gutter flicker.

Sometimes I am the grumble roar of a great and blazing fire
a warning to the coming night I hunger.
Fear me, Feed me,
I am your ever friend
I love you,
I miss you,
grumble roaring.

Sometimes I am the whispered woe of the frozen winter sky
a cold that insulates your soul I am everywhere.
Know me, Love me,
I am your ever friend
I love you,
I miss you,
woeful whisper.
