Devour

by Vikki Owens

So that no man can say 'here lies her flesh',
I devour myself,
particle by particle.

So that no man can say 'I own this part of you'
I devour myself,
all things in due time.

......

I once knew a man who looked to touch
and all my soul was
unsafeguarded, my skin stretched and pinned,
organs exposed, he reached his hands in.
The cage of my ribs, his hands wandered in the
labrynths, tunneling in the viscera.
He buried his face in the red depths of me,
kissed my spine
and murdered me, shreds of my screams between his
teeth.

......

So that no man can say 'I knew her well'
I devour myself,
all of life is a feast.

"So that no man can say 'here lies her flesh' I devour myself...all of life is a feast" - wonderful first and last lines! Sometimes it all ends before it begins...
