Rapid Eye Movement

by J. P. Davies

Kindly prompt me,
why do your eyes
luminesce in the dark?
Like twin sparks,
lapidated from a pyre.

Watching me,
with vigilance and care.
You scrutinize my face,
for clues or hints.
At why I love you.

I masquerade here,
watching you from
apertures in my eyelids.
As you settle deeper
into the pillow.

Now I'm watching.
Wondering at dreams
that discompose the perfect
breaths escaping your lips.
A breeze of placidity.

I love it. Each stanza offstes the next perfectly. There's not one that too loud or too soft. You definately struck a balance here.
