Obsession

by Adrian Calhoun

I told her she was beautiful,
all she could do was laugh in response.
Like a rose growing in the mind,
the thorns constantly reminded to
gaze upon and admire her.

She was like a perfect goddess,
even with the knowledge of her imperfect past.
The stars failed to shine
with as much radiance as she did.

No matter how hard I tried to forget her face,
she refused to let my thoughts go.
Always there in my dreams,
beckoning for me to come to her.
She consumed me in every aspect
each and every day.

Wanting to run, both to her, and away from her,
for fear I might not be her knight in shining armor.
As it is,
I just fell for her.
Totally in love with her,
and every single thought of her.
