Make Believe

by J. P. Davies

V1: Just a step past ecstacy,
a hole, too big, to be filled.
With just one corpse.
Hug the sides and
HANG ON...
You're losing more,
than just a lunch.
Insights into precience,
generous misgivings,
words to live and drown by.

C: Topple the pedestal,
you've built,
under your feet.
It was only make believe.
To fight is futile,
to run is vain.
It's all written,
in your tears,
in the rain.

V2: Just a jump past confidence,
a mountain, too tall, to be climbed.
By the time in life.
Shoot the moon you're
BANG ON...
You've trusted more,
than just a heart.
Movements into nothingness,
brutal thanksgivings,
truths to swear and lie by.
