Melodies and Harmonies

by Christel Crews

There you sit, drowning in the solitude

Seeking answers to unknown questions

Emotions escalating to exude

Robbed of peace in these Godforsaken seasons

Longing for the comfort of an unfamiliar touch

Reality bites as you accept the truth

The one thing you wanted so much

Is the sole thing you can’t have in your youth

Refrain:

Shut out the world and play yourself a tune

And the melodies surround you

As you live day by day

While harmonies stir the questions and soothe the pain

Irrational times grate the logical mind

The romantic within strikes to be let out

Like a broken record, for her you pined

Yet fear overcame, followed in by doubt

To what purpose is this plight?

How will this story end?

You did what you felt was right

There is no need to defend

Just shut out the world and play yourself a tune

The melodies surround you

As you live day by day

While harmonies stir the questions and soothe the pain

Bridge:

Tomorrow will always have an unknown outcome today

Take faith as you step into the fray

So shut out the world and play yourself a tune

The melodies surround you

As you live day by day

While harmonies stir the questions and soothe the pain

Author's Note: this is a song but i'm not a musician so i kinda have a tune in my head but there's no way i'd ever be able to write it out...

"Irrational times grate the logical mind" has to be one of my favorite lines of all time! I absolutely love this. Great work!
