how real

by Emily Davidson

we've got a secret
hiding under our denim
and we can see it in a
glance, exchanged for a moment, or in a
breath, breathed out of rhythm.

you gave me a look;
a sort of
half-smile
or dirty grin.
but it was beautiful nonetheless,
and i swore to myself
that i could live off of looks like those.

I really like the second stanza.

There's something inherently sexy about denim, and this. ::grin:: well done.

And the rest of us could live off poems like these. Brilliant.

Simple but hits home with the truth without being overly dramatic. Nice rhythm and style too. Very good.
