paper covers rock
but rock covers my heart
built up layers of lies
broken promisies
unforgetable stings of letters
make up these barriers
a thousand kind, warm words
could not even put a crevice
in this casket of stone
it was never asked for
just some accident
polite, loving acts
do no damage either
it seems nothing can break through
but under all the hardness
inside
it's the softest place on earth
