DeEvolver

by Jersey D Gibson

Once, we had a shiny moment,
the pinnicle of the human race.
For one moment, everyone was happy and free,
Then Eve boffed it.

Things have been going downhill,
no other species knows murder.
Starvation is only human vocabulary,
God can't keep up with our attrocities.

Just the other day,
someone was crushed to death.
He didn't give his seat to a woman,
her husband threw him under a bus.

What tiger knows of genocide,
or pelican of extintion?
The fish neer learned of pollution,
until we came along.

No such thing as rape,
in the animal kingdom.
But we're so much better, I suppose,
after, we have art, right?

Just ask John Wayne Gacy,
painter, clown, child-killer.
Or good ole Sylvia Plath,
poet, masochrist, commited suicide.

All of God's creatures knows of balance,
save what you got so you have it tomorrow.
I guess that means we weren't made by Him,
I'll let you guess who that leaves us with.

But if Even hadn't let the fall happen, we would all be ignorant. (According to the story) And most violence is caused by religious differences. Humans could be something else entirely, so it's not us, it's what we choose to be. The eskimos in Alaska live in perfect harmony with nature, with respect. But something drastic needs to happen before resort back to at least respecting the world. (See how much I can read when I'm not in college, it's lovely.)
