star

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

I caught a star once.

I was lucky enough to catch it and hold it in my palms.

I put it in my pocket and it never left my side.

When I was scared it would comfort me, when it was dark it shone so bright.

That star was my everything, never could I live without it.

One day I opened my eyes and  realized that the star was gone.

It had gone high, high up in the sky to shine with the other stars that had one been in the palms of someone's hand.

I cried and I searched staring at the sky to see which one was mine until I realized that I still had that star, I could feel that light shining and comforting me deep with in my heart.

beautiful...stars are so rare, you capture the feeling of having one so well.
