when all seemed black in the world
and darkness crept into your soul,
haunting every step you made?

If all seemed hopeless in this life
and in every other dimension of time,
could you still hold my hand
for always and for never?

When smoky methane clouds blur
the bright heavens and stars,
will your hope still lie
in my delicate hands?

Or after all your faithful ways
would you turn against me--
would you be able to forget
the love we began with?

Could iniquitious lies falsify
endless years of passion
and love that extended
farther than any milennia?

Do you have the same faith in us
that I have always believed in--
that I will never desert?
