Being Fictional, Is Oh So Comfortable

by J. P. Davies

Freedom comes, with letting tears
fall down your face. Letting pretences,
and well-wishing, disappear into the background.
Your sanity is most vitally important.
I wish I could make everything alright for you.
Sometimes, it's so comfortable to make-believe
the world will always understand you if you keep forcing
smiles and fading to black in the deep recesses
of your complex mind.

You never saw that the most beautiful things about you were
your moments of vulnerability. The times there
was more than the perfect grades and the talents.
There was a soul that craved to be held
with utmost care and passion. You need to know that
the beauty that all of us see is not in your deep brown eyes,
or in the white of your smile. It is in the sighs between breaths,
and the words hidden in the confident silences you project.
The times you cried, I loved you more. And the times you stood
defiant of your own feelings I wondered who you were.
You never have to be anything expected. Just be yourself.
And we will love you.

Yes. Perfect. This is expressed perfectly for the situation and doesn't confuse itself or the reader. It is simple and artfully expresses your (everyone's) point.

What a compassionate observation of a person who is struggling with themselves. Beautifully said.
