They are just plants,
just sugar -
flimsy paper dollars spent
on symbols of love
soon dead and dissolved.

The sensual pleasures
of sight and smell and taste
are transient,
expirable.
Disposable.

Give me something true,
something immortal
that time can lay no claim to.

Give me a part of you
that you can never take back.

I would not have to question how you feel.
