Things I need for Winter

by Mary Ellen Smith

One must have a wooly scarf and knitted hat.
Family and lots of friends who chat.
Hot cocoa with mounds of mellows
Tasty melting little fellows.
The cheery hearth of a Yule log.
Cuddles with a cat or dog.

One must have a cozy corner filled with books
A good mud room with lots of hooks.
Perhaps a window with a view
Of a snowman built for you.
Cherished time spent with a child
Hug them up and leave them smiled.

One must take a nap or two when it snows
When it rains or the wind blows.
Underneath the feathery down
Flannelled in a warm nightgown.
Dreaming a sweet and sleepy thought
Of the blessings winter’s brought.

Icicles and snowy flakes
Yummy things that Mama bakes.
Snow angels that dot the yard
Wintry nights full of stars.
Snowmen and some snowgirls please.
Soft tissues in case you sneeze,
And don’t forget this one last thing
Winters last gifting is spring!

Hmmmm…Things I need for spring……

: ) Great winter scene, considering a California girl wrote it LOL. Must of really taken some creative thinking huh? (haha) Great poem. All of those items are well stocked in this household.
