New Year's Resolution

by Matt Forget

Tell me the secrets

That I want to hear

That bleed from your mouth

To the others you encounter

Why can’t you be honest

Tell me how you feel

I’ll leave the restlessness be

Instead of my withering soul

Becoming to the day

I sit and ponder

Why you remain silent

Crickets louder than your words

You’re a communication of silence

A lasting epiphany of ideas

That only your friends with-hold

To kill my deepest sensations

And tonight this New Years night

You’ve murdered everything we’ve had

Slaughtered all creations

Dead like the flowers of summer

A new year has come

And now the resolution

To always be grateful

That I’m invisible from you

Author's Note: Sometimes you just want to be invisible...my resolution is to become invisible...
