as much as you are loved

by Michele Schottelkorb

we walk along a dusty path
which way is up or down?
please close your eyes and listen, Dear
there's an upside to your frown

in those moments of the dark
I'm beating in your heart
find strength within and without
from the finish to the start

heed these words sent with light
to your sadness, my Love
listen close, my precious One
to words sent from a dove:

"if the days seem too hard
and the voices shout too loud
if the pain is just too much
and you feel like ripping your feelings out
if the sun seems not to shine
and the world is stopping and going out of control

if your heart is breaking
and your tears aren't waning
if your mind is beating your soul
and your eyes can't contain any more of Life's practical little jokes........

it's ok

remember that this is what we have
remember that what is inside is never wrong~
~as long as your heart is pure
the past is the PAST
it cannot be revoked
cannot be changed
and this is ok
for we are who we are
a little bit of everything that we touch becomes a part of us
and if the demons of past tempt your mind to the brink of insanity
close your eyes and dream of a FUTURE
of true love
of life without boundaries
of a perfect day

for, dear Beauty
there WILL be perfect days for you again
there WILL be times of innocence and sheer joy again
there WILL be sunshine that doesn't cloud over again

and there will be a day when you will love yourself as much as you are loved by others..."

Author's Note: the last part of this poem, the part in italics, was written in march of 2003 as part of another poem i do not have here on pathetic... i've always wanted to put it with another poem, and today i have... despite my irritation at many who are in my life right now, there are also those who just need love... i may not have much to give, but what i have is yours...

Great message. I hope whoever you wrote it for appreciates it.

Beautiful and uplifting. There is a great feeling of hope to this piece that should make everyone that reads feel better.

Ok, I'm hooked. You can have the part of my heart that is meant for adoration anytime :-)
