marmalade

by Deborah S Regan

you, like marmalade
its thickness in the orange
tang of a thousand grove-ancestors

'tween the buttercups
we lounged
touched you in marmalade

thickness in your smile
spreads over toast
a lamp post in sunsets

this was so deliciously enjoyable, from the perspective of imagery, taste, and phonics- not too often do we get those together from a poem :)
