if you were by my side by Richard TrotterIf you were by my side
Flowers would seem twice as red
and I'd unearth the words in my head
and give them all to you.
If you were by my side
we'd rest on the sandy earth
cooled by the playful surf
of the gentle tides.
Yet when I was at your side
I couldn't say a word
and I know you never heard
the screaming if my heart. 12/28/2003 Author's Note: an early poem., expressing the hopeless romantic part of my personality, with an emphasis on the "hopeless".
