Rochester dims

by Christina Gleason

I've been riding these
Kodak sunsets for months,
following pink afternoons
in the shadows carved
under my cheekbones
to the six o'clock blue
of your untucked shirt.

This is how I think of you-

overworked and pressing
the heels of your hands
into your eyes
as Rochester dims
at your front door,
and I come with candy skies
bright at my back.

Author's Note: Rochester, NY - home of Eastman Kodak. The chemicals from the factories color the skies year round, it's sad- but pretty. Also, I tried to veer away from the body and physicality, but I failed, as you can see.
