California Christmas

by Mary Ellen Smith

It didn’t snow for Christmas here
It did one time is what I hear
The palm trees swayed
And the music played.
California Christmas.

We didn’t have a sleigh ride of course
In fact I never saw a horse.
A Volkswagon van
“Way cool, man.”
California Christmas.

Santa wore a bathing suit
Sandals on his feet, no boot.
And for what its worth,
Yes Virginia, he does surf…
California Christmas.

I think I saw his happy elves
Clearing out the Krispy Kreme shelves.
Starbucks cup in one hand
On their way to Disneyland.
California Christmas.

And if you look with all your might
At the Hollywood sign at night
You’ll see a strange and friendly glow
From Rudolph’s nose and you will know
A California Christmas.

fun and interesting for me, who's always wondered what it's like where there's no snow. We had a lot of rain just before, and were glad of the snow.

Great fun with a California Christmas. We spent one Christmas in Florida when our kids were much, much younger. We went to SeaWorld on Christmas Day. During the time we also took in Disney World. So the poem in a strange sort of way is nostalgic! :)

Hi Mary Ellen, Cute and fun read. Great write. Yeah, it just doesn't seem like Chritmas without snow.
